John Arial Goes Far Beyond Midnight With “Yuvia”
Spanish producer John Arial is really digging in on his upcoming release for Pig & Dan’s Elevate imprint. While the entire Elements EP is a journey, “Yuvia” is a track that succinctly communicates its power. Deep, exotic and emotive, this thick slice of tech house is a step beyond “afters” techno.
A low and sparse rhythm glides in with a lockstep that has an almost tribal tone. Growing in rolling waves, a tide of sounds begins to rise at a hypnotic pace. Hushed but jittering synths make up the melodic and bass elements, which come into focus in a conversational style. Haunting and fragile, all of the elements rise and fall in their own gentle time—so much so, that the smallest build feels like a roar. Arial goes for something cosmic and spiritual here; between carefully minimal sound choice and rolling, organic dynamics is where “Yuvia” lands right on the mark.
Available August 11 via Elevate.
