Howl at Wolves’ Den With This Nocturnal Wonderland 2016 Playlist
It’s hard to get hyped over a recycled lineup. We know how it goes, which is why Nocturnal Wonderland really broke away this year and turned to a new network of artists, each adding to one of the freshest spreads we’ve ever put our hearts into. It also means some of you might not recognize most names on the list—but don’t worry, we’re not going to leave you in the dark. With the Noc lineup by stage starting to cool off, we’re going to break down the five stages the good, old-fashioned playlist way.
If you’re the type to prey on robust bangers, Wolves’ Den is truly a place to call your own. It’s a feeding ground of festival favorites, with the stage housing a host of beastly artists. Friday will turn loose the holy trinity we know and love, Above & Beyond, who will parade nonstop anthems. Laidback Luke already gave us a taste of what to expect in the guest mix he laid down in the latest Night Owl Radio episode (so, hit that up for more context). Future house extraordinaire Oliver Heldens hammers out the high-energy hits, while Chris Lorenzo sits on the other side with his wobbly house heaters, and Wuki breaks out the freshest broken beats mankind has ever seen.
Saturday is an animal of its own, with Knife Party slashing through genres like a pair of lunatics. Bro Safari leads the trap excursion, and Illenium takes the bass on the scenic route through melody-laden landscapes. ODESZA, the newest addition to the lineup, proves why their live performance has yet to be challenged. Showtek bangs out the brightest big-room flair around, and the lovers of bounce can rely on TJR to bring out the good stuff.
The energy doesn’t dip a bit on Sunday. Dubstep specialist Bassnectar provides the sweet and spicy low-enders. Ephwurd gives the middle finger to basic bass house, and instead drops the dirtiest productions in the future category. Flexing his versatility is the unstoppable Flux Pavilion, along with the insanely diverse Alison Wonderland. If we’re lucky, Bingo Players will hit us with his newest summer jam that just turned up on Insomniac Records, while fledgling Dabin drips his R&B-drenched beats all over the decks.
There’s no shortage of wild tunes to be had next month, so let’s start howling our lungs out at Wolves’ Den a little early.
