It’s easy to fall in love with California when you’ve got beautiful weather year-round, delicious food around every corner, tons of interesting places to explore, and easy access to Insomniac’s one and only Beyond Wonderland. In just three weeks, thousands of Headliners from across the Golden State will head to the Bay Area, where they’ll spend two days dancing, singing, laughing, smiling, and making unforgettable memories that are sure to last a lifetime.

But while most of them are busy preparing for the upcoming festivities, others are taking time to reminisce about Wonderlands past. This week, Insomniac is doing just that as it celebrates #TBT with three unique Headliners. They were asked to send a photo that best describes their Beyond Wonderland experience. Here’s what they had to share.

She’s five feet and I’m 6’1″, so we like to call ourselves ‘Rob and Big,’ but opposite colors.

What’s going on in this picture?
This is a photo of “Booty” and me at our first festival together, Beyond Wonderland 2013. In it, you can see one of our favorite traditions: me putting her on my shoulders. She’s five feet and I’m 6’1″, so we like to call ourselves “Rob and Big,” but opposite colors. Our favorite part about doing this is seeing everyone’s different reactions. We get nothing but smiles and laughs, and it never fails to brighten up our day!

Why did you choose to share this one with us?
I wanted to share this photo because Booty is like a sister to me, and believe it or not, she was one of the first people to introduce me to this amazing culture—the culture that I have now made into my beautiful home. This girl has been there for me in ways that I could never explain. If there’s one person that I can create amazing, wild, beautiful memories with, it’s this gorgeous girl right here—“my little pixie.”

How does this picture best describe your overall Beyond Wonderland experience?
My Beyond Wonderland experience was something that I will never forget! It gave me the chance to share amazing moments with so many different people, including my family, who I get to see all the time, and random strangers that I no longer talk to. That’s the beautiful thing about these places; you meet those people for a reason. Some are meant to be in your life forever, while others are simply there to create a wanderlust of short memories with you—memories that you will always cherish. I’m just happy that Booty was there to share all those memories with me.

For me, this picture shows that whether or not you’re with your group, you can still have an amazing time with amazing people.

Beyond Wonderland: 2010

What’s going on in this picture?
We had just made it into my first music festival, Beyond Wonderland 2010. It was like nothing I’d ever experienced before. I had no idea who was playing. I just remember walking into this fantasyland and meeting this awesome performer.

Why did you choose to share this one with us?
Well, this photo is actually the only picture I have from this night, but it’s definitely worth sharing because it captured my friends and me together before we got separated. Since this was a special night for me, I wanted to share it with you guys.

How does this picture best describe your overall Beyond Wonderland experience?
Shortly after this picture was taken, I got lost from my friends. Luckily for me, I never felt alone. People would notice I was alone, they would tell me to tag along with them, and when the night was over, I was able to find my friends again. For me, this picture shows that whether or not you’re with your group, you can still have an amazing time with amazing people.

Last year’s Beyond Wonderland made me realize that these people right here are an absolutely amazing group of friends.

What’s going on in this picture?
This is a photo of my rave family in front of the main stage at the second annual Beyond Wonderland Bay Area. We wanted to express our creativity and unity by dressing up together in a group costume! As you can see, we chose to be minions from Despicable Me.

Why did you choose to share this one with us?
My rave family is a huge part of my life! We not only rave together, but we also hang out outside of music festivals, whether we’re pigging out on food, watching movies, or having kandi-making parties. This picture represents how much our relationship has grown over the years. It used to be just three of us partying together in the Oakland Coliseum parking lot; now, we’ve expanded our group to a fantastic five, and I couldn’t be happier!

How does this picture best describe your overall Beyond Wonderland experience?
Last year’s Beyond Wonderland made me realize that these people right here are an absolutely amazing group of friends. We really took care of each other that day, from travelling to the restrooms and water stations together when needed, to making sure that we each got to see our desired sets, to just feeling the love from the music that brought us together once again. This was a day that I will never forget. A very warm “thank you” to Insomniac!
