In the same way Headliners get goosebumps while they take their first walk down the grandstands to soak in the many wonders scattered throughout the grounds of EDC Las Vegas, the Insomniac team also can’t wait to set their eyes on a truly spectacular sight. We get chills from the creativity our crowd pours into every last detail of the outfits they flaunt each day.

And as is custom, we couldn’t wait to capture a small fraction of that sartorial swagger with a quick chat and one fierce-looking portrait. So, we posted up near this year’s Downtown EDC to shine a light on a handful of eye-catching festivalgoers who took home this year’s Awesome People trophy.

So far, definitely kineticFIELD. The crowd is really amazing, and everything is great.

That I love pastel colors.

Being Under the Electric Sky, dancing, having fun, hugging all my friends, and becoming a family.

What does your outfit say about you?
I went with blue and yellow because it’s very summer, very vibrant, very fun.

Is there one lesson you hope Headliners walk away with from this weekend?
The environment and how it’s a bonding, family type of experience. We’re a community, and everyone here takes care of each other.

Headbanging until my neck hurts the next day.

Just being here and seeing everyone be creative with what they wear, and feeling free about it. I mean, I don’t typically dress like this.

What does your outfit say about you?
I like sparkle.

Accept everyone, and practice PLUR all the time. It will help you get through road rage, for example.

Darren Styles in 2014 was amazing; that was one of my favorite sets of all time. It was happy, happy energy, really fun spirited, people bouncing around.

What does your outfit say about you?
This is my go-to look. It’s a hapa from Spirited Away. I put a bunch of shit on my face so no one would know how tired I am. I feel good tonight.

Is there one lesson you hope Headliners walk away with from this weekend?
It’s all about saying hi to people around you and interacting with them—not just staring at the DJ, but being a part of it by participating. It makes the event more about us and being together.

Nessa: When we got engaged.

Kyle:
We got engaged here at EDC 2017. We were watching Marshmello, and I turned over to her and I said, “Would you believe me if I told you I wanted to marry you.” She said, “No.” Then, I got down on one knee and asked if she wanted to marry me.

Neesa:
He was always joking with me, telling me that he was going to propose to me, but he never did. So when he finally did, I was completely shocked.

What does your outfit say about you?
Neesa: I wanted to keep it as traditional as possible, but with a dash of festival fashion. It makes me feel really confident. I feel really beautiful, and I’m ready to be his wife forever.

Kyle: We wanted to do sorta traditional, but not really, because we are at EDC and wanted to combine the two.

Is there one lesson you hope Headliners walk away with from this weekend?
Neesa: I think people should learn to love and respect each other—even outside of the festival—because everyday people are going through really tough situations, and it’s important to just simply be nice.

Kyle: We take this community very seriously, and we try to live by PLUR as much as we can. Even if somebody does something or whatever, we try to be kind to one another.

I would say dancing with the whole crowd and having a good vibe with everybody. It’s because everyone is so connected and there’s no judgment.

What does your outfit say about you?
Today, I’m going for a little rave-slave look—a little promiscuous, I would say. But I’m a good time. It makes me feel great about myself, because I don’t get to dress like this all the time.

Is there one lesson you hope Headliners walk away with from this weekend?
Just be more open-minded about everyone and not pass judgment as much.

Katie: It’s too early to tell, but last night was amazing. I was only planning to come out last night, but I am obviously here again.

Xia: Probably Deorro, just because it was my first time coming to EDC, and he came out with a song that was so important to me as a kid. It was Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the way that he mixed it in and dropped it, it made my heart jump out of my chest.

What does your outfit say about you?
Katie: It’s everything about me in one look. I have my sparkly-ness and unicorn in every way I can.

Xia: We got 20 people with us, and we are all dressed like this, so it’s fun to match the whole crowd.

Is there one lesson you hope Headliners walk away with from this weekend?
Xia: Just love each other. PLUR is not gone; it’s still here. The vibe attracts your tribe, so put out a good vibe, and EDC will remain a happy home that people from all over the world look forward to coming back to every year.
