Black Tiger Sex Machine are a trio of electronic music producers from Montreal, Canada. Known for their heavy electro sound and post-apocalyptic visuals, they’ve quickly amassed a rabid fanbase since bursting onto the scene in 2012. Drawing from diverse influences ranging from old-school techno to classic rock to 90s boom bap hip-hop, they’ve maintained an intense production schedule over the last two years, releasing three EPs and an innumerable amount of remixes, collaborations and free singles that have drawn widespread acclaim.
Along the way, Black Tiger Sex Machine have built a reputation as one of the best live acts around. They perform a unique show in which they combine tracks, loops, drums, samples and synths into an intense barrage of sounds and beats, all while wearing their iconic Tiger Helmets. It’s no surprise that Ultra Records listed them as one of the Top 10 masked DJ acts in the industry.
Black Tiger Sex Machine are also the brains behind Kannibalen Records, which has quickly become one of the top independent labels in the game. Through Kannibalen, they’ve shaped the careers of breakthrough artists like Kai Wachi, Apashe, Snails & Dabin.
Having already accomplished so much in so little time, BTSM show no signs of slowing down their frenetic pace. They were recently featured as founding artists on EDM.com and they just completed two European tours, playing 25 shows in Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria in less than 8 months. With a packed Canadian festival season and a South African tour planned for October 20th, Black Tiger Sex Machine look set to truly stake their claim as one of the most promising acts in electronic music.
Producer, remixer, DJ and Rinse FM host, Birmingham UK’s Chris Lorenzo is widely acknowledged for pioneering his hometown’s emergent and increasingly popular Jackin’ house come Bassline hybrid sound, which he terms simply “House & Bass”.
Having built up specialist support with releases on a plethora of tastemaker labels, including Claude Von Stroke’s Dirtybird label and Shadow Child & Kry Wolf’s lauded Food Music label, Lorenzo has also been called upon to remix My Nu Leng for Black Butter and Disclosure for PMR.
News of the Birmingham wunderkind has spread far and wide and in recent weeks, Lorenzo has seen both Skrillex and Steve Aoki come knocking at his door. Last month, Skrillex turned up unannounced at Lorenzo’s recent gig at Sound in Hollywood and duly whisked him off to his studio downtown to collaborate. Shows in Europe with Skrillex have followed and now Steve Aoki has personally requested Lorenzo’s magic touch on his new release “Delirous” feat. Kid Ink.
Riding on the wave of his success, Lorenzo has now signed to Ultra Music and gets ready to release Signs, a collaboration with Hannah Wants that also features the vocal talents of Janai, whom many will know from her tracks with Dusky, Rack N Ruin and GotSome. With its beautiful melodies and a slightly deeper sound, Signs is the ultimate summer soundtrack and shows the duo still have so much more to show us. For the diehard fans however, Lorenzo has also produced a Roller mix of Signs, which incorporates the trademark elements of his distinctive, bassier sound.

Ever been to a club and heard the crowd chanting ‘Never Stop The F*cking Rave’ along with the DJ? Yah? Looks like you already met our official new kids on the EDM block! If not, let us introduce to you: DVBBS . Entering the scene in 2013 with the #1 club track of the year, the Canadian brotherly DJ/producer duo have catapulted themselves into the most happening genre of the music industry at this moment in time. Youngsters Chris Andre (1990) and Alex Andre (1991) came up with the massive international hit "Tsunami”, a track that's built a huge reputation and gained a tidal wave of fans all over the globe.
At first the producer of the track was not revealed. The single had been popular at festivals for months prior to its official public release. Eventually the song was confirmed by Pete Tong to be the work of DVBBS and Borgeous when Tong played the song on his show on BBC Radio 1 in August 2013. The official release was later that month through Sander van Doorn’s DOORN Records.
One thing was sure from the beginning: DVBBS are on a mission! After ‘Tsunami” has been rocking crowds around the world with its huge drop, Ministry of Sound released the vocal remix entitled "Tsunami (Jump)", featuring Tinie Tempah which went straight number 1 in the Official UK Charts.
With follow up releases ‘Stampede’, ‘Raveology’ and ‘Immortal’ in the months following, which all ended up at the #1 spot in Beatport’s main chart, DVBBS have showed no sign of slowing down. Their recent track ‘Gold Skies’, a collaboration with Sander van Doorn, Martin Garrix and Aleesia, topped the Beatport charts without any exception. A total of 5 #1’s in Beatport’s main chart and platinum records in over 10 countries are the result of DVBBS’ world domination!

Thirty push-ups and a shot of tequila each: that’s all the preparation Julio Mejia and Matt Toth need to transform laid-back, unassuming 24-year-olds into the scene-stealing DJ .and production duo GTA, throwing down killer sets across the globe.
Despite GTA’s wild, unpredictable sets, everything the duo does – both on stage and in the studio – is unified by a simple mission statement: Death To Genres. The duo’s open-minded-ness is closely tied to their Miami roots, as they were exposed to urban, electronic rock and Latin sounds in equal measure. “A lot of people argue about the kind of music they listen to, what’s cool and what’s not,” Mejia explains. “But for us, it’s just about good music.”
GTA finished their first collaboration in a single sitting, and sent it off to a few labels for feedback. Much to their surprise, Toth and Mejia heard directly from Afrojack who wanted to sign the song to his Wall Recordings imprint. “We got the email and we freaked out,” Mejia says. “That’s how GTA got started. And ever since then it’s just been constant.” Constant being an understatement, GTA has toured 5 continents headlining their own tours as well as thrilling crowds at premiere festivals such as; Coachella, Lollapalooza, Ultra Music Festival, EDC and countless more.

The next week, listeners of ABGT voted “Burma” to be played again as Record of the Week, and then again for the following week’s show. SAYMYNAME hails from the greater Los Angeles area, he is also better known as Dayvid Sherman. Dayvid grew up in a musical family influenced by many genres of music including hiphop from his father who DJ'd as a hobby. Growing up in LA's booming rave scene, Dayvid went on to graduate from Chapman University with a degree in Public Relations and Advertising.
Upon graduation, is when SAYMYNAME boasts the ever so coveted INSOMNIAC EVENT'S DISCOVERY PROJECT WINNER in 2013. Davyid has performed at such festivals as Insomniac's Basson, EDC Las Vegas 2013, 2014 and at EDC Las Vegas 2015.
As he's tinkered with both trap and hardstyle, trying to find his sound... his re-birth came about as he discovered #HARDTRAP. Ever since then, SAYMYNAME has been the pioneer of this sound movement. As a result many blogs and fans have labeled SAYMYNAME as the God Father of HARDTRAP. Keep an eye out for this young exciting act which bring his fabulous stage presence and ridiculous drops and basslines which makes crowds go insanely crazy!
It's 5:47 am and I just finished an original song and I have a bacon sandwich in hand and I'm relaxed and content as I watch the sunrise. That's pretty much my routine, with each day that passes sleep becomes more of a privilege. Balancing my last semester at University, I have found a way to finish my schoolwork by day and plunging into the world of music by night. I wake up with music on the mind and am constantly sharing new songs with friends and exploring new artists. I groove to the rhythms of nature's beats, connecting with the outside world constantly inspires me. My music is more than a career or hobby, it's a form of illustration. At shows I zone out, feel the bass and dance the night away. Music is fun, active, art, amusing and full of emotion. At times music and my alter ego are paralleled, with synced movements and a connection only SayMyName can fully grasp. Music to me is colorful with shapes united. Music never hurts or harms, it heals and refreshes after a long stressful day.

Origin Of Name: Yes! The Headhunterz song, “Just Say My Name,” inspired the name. I loved the aggression in the song and the monologue in the break. It is demanding, like my music.
Weapon of Choice: Hmmm, I always choose Mario when I play Super Smash Brothers on the Nintendo 64—he is my weapon of choice in that game.
Source of Power: Bacon, artist including Skrillex, Headhunterz, Armin Van Buuren, Tyler the Creator and Soulja Boy. I also get my power from the clothing I wear, the food I eat and dancing to good hardstyle music.
Was there one particular moment in the recording or mixing process for your Discovery Project entry that made you feel like you were creating something pretty damn special?
When I dropped Pegboard Nerds’ “Self Destruct.” I went on automatic turn up mode and couldn’t stop dancing. I love that song and I felt that it just gave the mix some character and a different change of tone.
Are there any dots to connect with where/how you grew up to your musical output?
When I was four years old, I remember my father was DJing in my house and my mom picked me up and let me scratch once for like two seconds. It went “scurvurrru screech” and I believe that the moment I scratched it sparked my curiosity in DJing for year…until my dad finally passed down the tables to me after my fifth grade culmination. In elementary school I was into old school dance music through breakdancing and learned more about the hip-hop culture from my father.
What do your parents think of what you are doing?
My parents fully support what I am doing and love to come out to some of my local shows in Los Angeles and Orange County. They usually are the first people I show a new song to before posting it online to get their feedback, and they usually are spot on with things I need to improve on in my music. It is funny, though, when I see them at some shows in the middle of the crowd with a bunch of raging teenagers and young adults.
What’s the strangest part of your job?
The strangest part is when I finish a song and go, “Wow, all of those noises were in my head.” It still amazes me that I can create a structured song that people actually like.
What would people be surprised to find out about being a DJ as a profession?
Some people try to undervalue a DJs profession and think that it is easy to do a set. I hate when people are like, “Oh I can DJ—it’s nothing.” Some people need to understand that it is not just about playing music but building a connection with a crowd of 2,000 or even five people.
How does what you do for a living affect you on a day-to-day basis? Does it affect your friends and family?
It consumes me in a positive way. I have to fit it in my schedule of work, studies, and social time, and make sure I am still giving it 100 percent on top of other priorities. My friends and family love what I am doing and support it.
What is your ultimate career dream?
My ultimate career dream is to throw massive events and give portions of the profit to ASPCA. I am a dog lover and fully support ASPCA’s efforts to stop animal cruelty and house animals affected by violence and mistreatment.
Are you impulsive with your work or do you have a sketch in mind before you start?
I usually sketch the whole song out in my head and think about it for about three days before I actually hit the studio. Once I have the idea I literally go in the studio and mash it out exactly how I had it in my head.
How, if at all, does listening to music figure into your creative process?
I actually am more of a visual person when it comes to getting inspired from music sometimes. I would search like “Skrillex live in 2013” or “Hardwell live” on YouTube, watch these DJs drop these massive songs and observe just how the crowd reacts or how a certain part of a song might make a DJ like Funt Case flare and shake his hands in the air like a madman and get inspired from that. The last song that made me go to the studio was Brennan Heart’s “Freaqshow.”
What’s the most important piece of gear in your studio?
The Reason 5 program I produce on is the heart of everything. Without it I wouldn’t have software to produce the tunes on.
How important is it for you to experiment and take on the risk of failure?
Very important. SayMyName started as an experiment, I wanted to be a DJ that was different, spontaneous and thought outside of the box. When I had the idea to remix the Barney theme song, I doubted it a few times during the process of making it. I thought that remixing a child’s song like Barney could harm my career, but I just went in “YOLO Mode” (yes I said YOLO) and did it. It is my most popular song, surprisingly, and proves that you never know what might catch on…you just got to go hard or go home, eat some bacon and find inspiration in whatever makes you smile.
Do you have a list of people you’d like to collaborate with in the future?
I would love to make music with Skrillex, Wolfgang Gartner, or the Headhunterz, because those are all inspiring artists that I listen to on the regular. I want to make the finest and most delicious gourmet bacon meal with Chef Ramsay one day, as well.
If we pressed Shuffle on your iPod while you went to the bathroom, what would you be embarrassed to come back to us listening to?
My iPod is lame with barely any music. If you pressed shuffle on my iTunes however I would probably be embarrassed if “Naturally” from Selena Gomez came on (yes I have that song). Nothing against Selena, she is dope and doing her thing.
What sound or noise do you love?
I love the sound of deep hardstyle bass drums that go “Baawm Baawm Baawm Baawm” or something like that.
What should everyone just shut the fuck up about?
Seriously some people need to shut up about house music, trap and dubstep being “dead!” They are not dead, festivals are still selling out, I still hear those genres on the radio and at shows—they are still alive and growing. Another thing, Skrillex did not kill dubstep, if anything he actually contributed to the growth of the genre.
What gets you excited when you think about the future of electronic music and club culture?
I get excited when I think about what the next movement might be. What sound. What style. Electronic music changes up so much and so quickly. Last year complextro was popular on the charts, now simple big room minimal style drops are the thing. What is next?
When you look at electronic music and the surrounding culture, what worries you about the future?
The only thing that worries me is the growth of it. And when I say growth I mean the number of people trying to DJ because “it looks fun.” And the essence of saying, “I am an EDM DJ” having no real impact anymore because everyone is somehow a DJ.
What are your weaknesses?
Do you have a secret passion?
I like to write research papers and essays. Even though I dread starting them, I get a thrill out of the whole process of writing a paper on the most boring topics ever. I guess it is the challenge of taking something uninteresting and making it appealing that I enjoy.
How would you describe your sound to a deaf person?
I would give a deaf person some bacon to eat, turn on a muscle car, put their hand on the hood of it and have them feel the vibration of the engine roaring. I think that would be the best way to describe my sound.
Is success physical or internal?
I believe success is internal…when you realize mentally that you have grown to a content stage in your career and progressed in your arts and mastered your craft.
What do you remember about your first DJ gig?
My first DJ gig was with my best friend at my high school’s Halloween dance in 2006 during my freshman year. I never used CDJs in my life and that is what he brought for us to use. Looking back at it I had a bad playlist of songs first of all, second of all I ran out of music 40-minutes before the end of the event. Luckily we had a student band perform which killed sometime. I remember my transitions being a train-wreck at times, because I just could not get used to CDJs after three years of using turntables. The highlight song of my set was Lil John’s “Get Low,” and of course we all got low. I am laughing to myself because I just remembered my best friend had a pre mixed CD that he played once we ran out of music. I learned the greatest lessons of being a DJ that night; know how to use other equipment, and come with more than enough music for the evening. Overall it was a fun and stressful first gig experience.
What’s the hardest professional lesson you’ve learned thus far?
The hardest professional lesson I have learned so far is just being myself. Before I launched SayMyName, I struggled a bit with trying to sound like other artists but eventually just did me and made the music I wanted to produce rather than go with what is “new” or “hot.” It made my life easier because I was able to make these hardstyle remixes and attract a different crowd of trap fans who loved the music I enjoyed.
Tell me about your most memorable night out.
The first time I saw Armin Van Buuren live was the day I decided to pursue a career in the EDM scene. He played his track “Tuvan” and I fell in love with the scene, the vibe and the energy—it was awesome! This was in 2009, by the way.
What advice would you offer someone thinking about entering the Discovery Project competition?
Don’t compare yourself to artist bigger or smaller than you that enter the competition. It is not a popularity contest so just be you. Remember you have 30-minutes to let your mix shine out of over 400 other entries, so make it memorable and thoughtful.
Any last words?
I just want to point out how cool the Nervo ladies are (I am a huge fan). I also think it is really awesome that Insomniac is bringing major hardstyle artist to EDC. I have never experienced hardstyle music live and I am pretty excited to catch Isaac and the Headhunterz set! Thank you once again Insomniac for the opportunity to perform at EDC this year!
After meeting up back in 2007 Willem van Hanegem & Ward van der Harst came together to form W&W and they haven’t looked back since. The past years this Dutch production and DJ duo have transcend the boundaries of genre and traverse the globe with their music and performances.
Fusing styles and mixing influences, W&W combine the uplifting and melodic elements of trance with the raw intensity of electro and progressiveness of house to create a sound that is uniquely their own. Infectious, rebellious and highly energetic, their list of productions is championed by the likes of Hardwell, Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, David Guetta and more for its breadth, diversity and massive appeal to multiple audiences.
From their earlier works like the synth-driven ‘Moscow’ and floor pounding ‘Shotgun’, to later projects like ‘Invasion’, ‘Lift Off’, the embodiment of their multidimensional sound, ‘D# Fat’ with Armin van Buuren, the massive ‘Jumper’ with Hardwell, Beatport #1 smash ‘The Code’ with Ummet Ozcan (which became the most played track of Miami Music Week 2013), their chart topping remix of Armin van Buuren’s ‘This Is What It Feels Like’ and the official Amsterdam Music Festival anthem ‘Thunder’, these tracks have more than 10 million plays on Spotify; it’s clear each of the tunes leaving the W&W studio is a sure-shot of dance floor thrill.
But the biggest track of W&W so far was yet to come. The massive hit ‘Bigfoot’ came out in February 2014, became #1 at Beatport, generated many plays at international radio stations and festivals all over the world. And that was only the start of 2014; after ‘Bigfoot’ W&W continued to release hit after hit after hit. In 2015 they continued their success by releasing major tracks like ‘Rave After Rave’ and ‘The One’, a tribute to Whitney Houston, which uses the vocal samples from Whitney’s major hit ‘How Will I Know’.
As DJs, currently #14 in the DJ Mag Top 100, they are also dominating dance floors and festivals around the world. 2015 featured a hugely successful Miami Music Week/Winter Music Conference/Ultra weekend with the performance at the main stage at Ultra Miami as a highlight, Ultra worldwide, Tomorrowland, EDC and their ‘Rave After Rave’ summer tour. Their headlining status at the world’s most leading festival and clubs is about to get even bigger.
W&W were the first ever dance music act to perform at a Major League Baseball stadium when they took over Philadelphia Phillies Citizen’s Bank Ball Park for a two-hour set. If that wasn’t enough, W&W continues to prove their status as innovators and tastemakers in the scene by also curating music for their Mainstage Music label, which released tracks from Armin van Buuren, Headhunterz, Dash Berlin, 3LAU, Andrew Rayel, Tritonal, Sick Individuals and many more!
Since October 2014, W&W have their own radio show on SLAM!. Every Friday night, from 23:00 until 00:00, Willem and Ward will rock Dutch airwaves with their show ‘Mainstage’. In this program, the two demonstrate their versatility and play only the best new music. The show has more than 300.000 listeners per week and gets uploaded to Soundcloud plus is available as a Podcast. North American fans can enjoy the show at the biggest radio station in the USA: SiriusXM.
They started 2016 with ‘Arcade’ a new collaboration with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, and a vocal solo single ‘How Many’. Next to those their special ‘Festival Mixes’ of Justin Bieber’s Sorry and Adele’s ‘Hello’ have also been doing major damage recently, with the former proving one of the highlights of their killer Ultra Music Festival set in Miami. With over 2.000.000 plays on YouTube, their set has become one of the Top 5 most watched of the entire event.
At first it was two DJs having more fun playing shows together rather than separately. That turned into an Amsterdam club night, after which Yellow Claw took their show on the road—in the Netherlands and across the world. Their first songs came out in 2012, Blood For Mercy became a mantra and Barong Family was established as a record label. With a huge, loyal fanbase crowding their gigs from Las Vegas to Seoul and everywhere in between, Yellow motherfucking Claw’s is one of the most electrifying shows you’ll come across.
As much as their music is about energy release by any means necessary, Yellow Claw’s whole approach is highly conceptual and deliberate: from the numbered mixtapes to the branded merchandise (from parkas to bathing suits), the slick (music) videos and collaborations with artists as diverse as Diplo and Ty Dolla $ign, Tiësto and Pusha T. Launched in 2014, Barong Family has become a home to upcoming, likeminded artists like Cesqeaux, LNY TNZ, Moksi, Mightyfools, Mike Cervello and more.
Over the years, Yellow Claw has performed at the main stages of EDC Las Vegas, Ultra Music Festival, Jack Ü’s New Year’s Eve party, Spring Awakening and Coachella in the United States, Tomorrowland in Belgium, Mysteryland, Kingsday Festival, The Flying Dutch and Sensation in the Netherlands and Future Music Festival in Australia, has held a residency at the Wynn Las Vegas and played numerous headline shows in North and South America, Eastern and Western Europe and all along East Asia.
In November of 2015 Yellow Claw finally delivered its full-length debut album Blood For Mercy on Mad Decent, followed by a massive US tour. Featuring many big name features, it went straight to #1 on Billboard’s Heatseeker Albums as well as Top Dance/Electronic Albums charts and also reached #1 on Beatport.
In 2016, Blood For Mercy won the Edison award (Dutch equivalent of the Grammys) for dance music in the Netherlands. The single “In My Room”, made in partnership with DJ Mustard and featuring Ty Dolla $ign and Tyga has so far clocked almost 7 million views on YouTube and over 72 million streams on Spotify (not counting remixes).
Currently working on their second album, Yellow Claw is continually keeping the pressure on with their record label Barong Family, with releases scheduled from new as well as more established family members.
