Whether it was for the desert sun, the massive lineup or the fully stocked bars, hundreds of couples came to celebrate their love of electronic music at Crush Arizona. I went around the crowd throughout the night, asking couples which dance music song best describes their relationship and why. Here are the tracks they chose.

Victoria and Brad

Victoria and Brad met two years ago at their local gym, sporting workout gear and drenched in sweat. Enthusiastic ravers, they can now be found dancing in the crowd, waving homemade signs for everyone to see. It’s a good thing they work out, because holding up signs all night can get seriously exhausting (as Victoria’s sign denotes). When asked what song described their relationship best, the couple picked “Enjoy the Ride” by Krewella. “Honestly, it’s been two years together, and we’ve had amazing shit happen,” Victoria explains. “So we’re literally just enjoying the ride.”

Tessa and Derek

This two are the poster children for the dance music community. They met at a rave five years ago and have lived out PLUR ever since. Their admiration for one another radiates brighter than Tessa’s pink hair. Since making it official a year ago, the couple has been hitting shows nonstop. When asked what song they felt best describes their dynamic, they simultaneously responded “Latch” by Disclosure. “[It] just feels right and happy!” Derek exclaims. Honestly, how can you not be happy with a woman who can accessorize like Tessa? Keep on keeping on!

Michelle and Justin

The couple met three years ago working at Marco’s Pizza in Arizona. Maybe it was the way Michelle handled pizza dough or her contagious smile, but Justin was sprung! Michelle went to Justin’s apartment to hang out one night, and he professed his infatuation for her. She reciprocated his feelings and broke up with her boyfriend at the time to be with her pizza boy (got to love a girl who knows what she wants!). The couple then faced a rough patch, as Justin was serving in the military. The distance put a strain on their relationship, which was on and off. It wasn’t until they attended the Mad Decent Block Party this past September that things started looking up for the two. “We had a rocky relationship until we started raving together,” Justin professes. Since then, they have made going to shows a big part of their lives. They even had matching kandi bracelets that made a heart when they held hands (talk about putting the unity in PLUR!). They picked Zedd’s “Clarity” as the song that best describes their relationship because of the clarity the raving community has brought them. Best of luck on your move to Denver, Michelle and Justin!

Kristy and Geoff

Kristy and Geoff first came across each other while in the presence of cheap drinks at their favorite bar in Tucson, right by the University of Arizona. They truly found love in a hopeless place (shout out to Calvin Harris), because according to them, there is nothing more hopeless than Tucson, Arizona. “She didn’t even know what PLUR was before we dated,” jokes Geoff, who took it upon himself to show Kristy his raving ways. From what we can tell, Kristy is adapting well to the electronic music culture (just check out the crafting on that Dada Life totem!). The two have been officially together since Escape: All Hallows’ Eve this past Halloween. They say the dance music song that best describes their relationship is “Heroes” by Alesso, as they both fondly remember listening to it as they drove back to Tucson before their first rave.
